On the Dairy Farm

As most of you know we have a Dairy Farm here in Hico. My father in law and his Dad started it in 1981 so its been in business for 30 years. We currently milk Jersey cows (the blue bell cow Elsie) and really enjoy them. Up intill 2004 they milked Holsteins, but went through a TB scare and every cow had to be put down only to find after all test were ran that it was a false negative. This was a HUGE blow, but my father in law has a VERY good head on his sholders and not only made great decisions, but also kept his spirits up and kept on keeping on. lol Anyways a Dairy Farm is an amazing place to raise a family. My kids enjoy everything about it, rather it been going to work with dad or poppa, or feeding the baby cows, or even Brileys favorite riding in the tractor on the buddy seat. So I decided to post some pictures of the kids (that were taken last summer) with the baby calves and their poppa.

This is Beau's gator. He got this Christmas when he was 2, it took a while for him to learn how to drive, but he got it down fast. Briley always asked when she was littler to go for a ride in bubba gatoraid. It was so cute. She now has a pink barbie jeep that she likes, but its not as good as the gator.

Beau and Briley with a baby calf. Note the tongue coming out the window. lol

My daughter that has a Princess attitude about everything like shoes and her clothes is the BIGGEST tom boy EVER! She loves to be outside, to touch bugs and animals, and when we go to the lake once she has her life jacket on she is gone, jumping off the boat and riding in the tube with no help. Neither on of my kids have made an ER trip due to a injury, but I have a feeling she will be the one if it happens.

This is my wonderful father in law Keith AKA Poppa to the kids. They look up to him so much. He is the sweetest most compasioniate man ever. He is willing to talk to anyone and everyone who comes to the dairy and will show them around everywhere. He gets up before dawn and works way past dark. He is the reason my family has EVERYTHING we do. I know that my husband will follow in his footsteps and I hope my kids do too. Im so glad he is willing to take the time to spend with my kids so they can have great memories of their Poppa.

Mr. Beau!!

So pretty much thats just my kids at the dairy with the baby calves, but you get the idea. Hopefully this summer I can post a lot more about the dairy and more pictures.
